Christie Smirl (Kalavati Devi) has recorded, released and collaborated on 15albums and music projects including The Kali Dub Project,  Contortion, Kali Samadhi and Akashavani.  She utilizes a variety of musical and ritual accoutrements ranging from bells, gongs, harmonium, synth, cello, rain sticks, rattles, bass guitar and mantras with styles ranging from Rock, Ambient Psychedelic, Drone and Ritual music. One of her greatest honors has been to perform for saints and sadhus in India.

"Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Since inception, THE KALI DUB PROJECT has been effortlessly prolific, constantly influenced and inspired by those before us such as old electronic and industrial music, Sunn O))), Earth, OM and the nastiest drum and bass pioneers from the 90’s.
Originally, we set out to mix subsonic sigils and mantras with heavy dub, to create music that was simultaneously heavy and elevating, inspired King Tubby, Agustus Pablo, Lee Scratch Perry and SCORN. Soon after we produced the album THE KALI DRONE PROJECT comprised of crushing doom/drone riffs, haunting vocals, traditional Vedic mantras and an overdose of feedback.
The 2023 album, PSYCHEDELIC SUPERSOUL SESSIONS, was by influenced Spacemen 3, The Stooges, The Velvet Underground, and handful of grimy 60’s garage/psych bands. We wanted to pay forward the psychedelic gospel like so many have done before and raise consciousness while doing it.

It was an honor to record this song, THE CALLING, from the album, THE COMMON THREAD, by CONTORTION. This is a special mantra that I once wrote to honor the Dark Mother.

 Kali Samadhi MMXXII is an experimental ritual album created in collaboration with and presented by The Kali Dub Project. These tracks contain Vedic ritual chants and invokations set to Solfeggio frequencies intended to heighten mantra transmissions and specific vibrational hertz. The sonic Solfeggio frequencies on this album range from subterranean 174 Hz to the detoxifying 741 Hz.

This album is a collaboration between Christie Smirl and Kathy Bolte featuring the extraordinary musicians Eddie Young on cello, bass guitar, and udu, Nick Young on sitar, and Christo Pellani on percussion. This beautiful collection of melodic transformational Sanskrit and Vedic mantras transports the listener towards a deeper connection to one's divinity within and a more peaceful, centered and clear state of mind.

CHAKRA ACTIVATION ALBUM 
​     Christie Smirl has been conducting chakra balancing meditations and sound baths using crystal toning bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, mantra, energy medicine and gongs since 2011 from Southern California to India.
